Approach

The check is not the reason to take our money.

The reason is what comes with it. Most medical device companies do not fail because the technology does not work — they fail on the parts that have nothing to do with the science. That is where we spend our time with founders.

What we do

First checks, and room to follow.

Antibes Ventures makes first checks in early-stage medical device, diagnostics, and health technology companies. We usually come in at pre-seed or seed, often alongside a lead we trust, and we keep room to follow our best companies into their next round.

What we bring

The work that decides whether a good device reaches patients.

Reimbursement & market access

A cleared device with no payment pathway is a science project. We work with founders on coverage, coding, and payment strategy from the beginning, because these decisions constrain the product, the trial design, and the business model far earlier than most teams expect.

This is the single most underestimated risk in medtech, and it is the work we know best.

Regulatory strategy

510(k), De Novo, PMA (pre-market approval), Breakthrough Device designation, and the trade-offs between them. We help founders choose a pathway that matches the evidence they can realistically generate, and avoid the predicate and claims mistakes that cost years later.

Commercial launch

The first accounts, the first reps, the distribution model, and the unit economics that decide whether a launch scales or stalls. We have built the commercial foundation for a novel therapy from zero, and we help founders do the same without relearning it the expensive way.

The founder's seat

We have sat in that seat, not observed it from a distance. We know what board pressure, a live fundraise, and a hard hiring decision actually feel like, because we have lived them. Founders get candid input from a peer, not a lecture from a spectator.

Who we back

Early enough that judgment still changes the outcome.

We back founders building medical technology in the United States who are early enough that judgment still changes the outcome.

We are most useful when a company faces the wall that stops most devices: a real regulatory decision, an unresolved reimbursement path, or a first commercial motion that has to work. If that describes where you are, our help is worth more than our check size suggests. If you are raising a large priced round and want a name on the cap table, we are probably not the right fit.

We are sector-focused by design. We invest where we can add something beyond money, and we say no quickly and honestly when we cannot.
